So i gotta say, im a huge fan of new Accept. I’ve got a couple of old Accept albums, solely because i picked up their 2010 album, Blood of The Nations which kicked some serious ass. So, obviously I am pretty pumped for their new album, Stalingrad dropping April 2010 on Nuclear Blast.

As mentioned, new Accept blows minds, so when I listened to what I believe is one of the first advanced tracks, Stalingrad, off of the new album I we pretty excited. It really did meet expectations, heavy instrumentals, those choruses that you and your mom can sing along to, and the Russian National Anthem at some point in the song, although I must admit I did not hear it on the first time through. Yup, Accept is here to stay, so let’s go to Stalingrad shall we? And pick up the new album, April 10th, it’ll be the balls, the balls!!!!

Wow, so in a startling turn of…well, I guess life, Scion AV along with Profound Lore records have announced an epic show out in California, thats not only is free, but features Yob among some other doom heavy hitters. The first question I have is, when did Scion get….taste? They’re mid sized, econo boxes are not very metal, and every commercial plays rap with a combination of Zeus and some other “street” element. So when I saw this on Pallbearer’s Facebook page I leapt with joy, only to be torn down by the fact that it’s in California…..

But, if you live near here, alls you got to do is RSVP to the event on the 29th right here, get their early enough, grab a beer and be consumed with some heart stopping doom the likes of which mere mortals cannot handle. Well Scion, I applause thy, I won’t buy one of your cars, but if you bring something like this to Boston I’ll test drive the balls off of one. Enjoy the poster, and be three, if you can….did I mention it’s free??

Motörhead Joins On Rockstar Mayhem Fest!

So here’s a quick update for y’all. Motörhead confirmed over the weekend that they will also be tacked onto this years Rockstar Mayhem Fest this year. That’s, pretty much the news.

I must say the festival is shaping up to be a little better than anticipated, at this point at least half the bands are pretty solid choices. At this point the lineup consists of:

Slipknot
Slayer
Motörhead
Anthrax
As I Lay Dying
The Devil Wears Prada
Asking Alexandria
Whitechapel
High On Fire

Slayer, Motohead, and Anthrax will obviously have to show what I’d imagine to be a primarily young demographic what real music is. High On Fire will also be pretty decent, still haven’t decided on the show, dates can be found on our page right hiya. Hopefully some decent news will come through this week, it’s been a lot of filler, not gonna lie, sorry guys.

Well first off, let me say I haven’t seen anything that I deemed noteworthy in metal. A few new tours were announced, Destruction if your intested, Black Sabbath announced they’ll only be playing one Euro festival due to Iommi’s health, which shouldnt surprise anyone. Yes, this is news that I could have wrote about, but deemed unnecessary. So, deal with it.

Now onto more important things, did you guys see this billboard!? News showed it this morning and the regular citizens were up in arms. I for one, appreciate the company’s honesty, they know their product is still dirty and gross, but at least they’re not charging top dollar. They make it so even Sebastian Bach can get a decent drink. And let’s be honest, who really wants to pay escort prices, youre getting the same diseases, and same unenthused disappointed woman in the end, so as long as the ends are the same, ie, getting schlammered, I tip my hat to you, cheap Wodka, without you, I’d be drinking regular vodka, like rich hipsters. Finally, a vodka that goes well with my PBR.

I was actually listening to Rob Zombie this morning and you know what he’s actually really good. When James and I saw him a few years back it was one of those shows where he played literally every song you could possibly want to hear. Obviously Megadeth is kicking ass as much as ever and there new album Kills. Anyway as the title would suggest Megadeth and Rob Zombie are embarking on a US tour. Perhaps there will be a battle of religion on stage where Mustaine praises the great Lord Jesus and Rob Zombie just wears someones face as a mask. On second thought that seems unlikely. It’s the first time the two have toured together and unfortunately most of the dates are in balls nowhere. Providing Rob doesn’t actually play any material off his latest album I would love to go. Perhaps we will see some more dates soon but I really don’t know if anymore are coming. If you happen to live in balls nowhere check out this tour since it will definitely be a killer show. Here are the dates completely ripped from Blabbermouth.

May 11 – Holmdel, NJ @ PNC Bank Arts Center
May 12 – Scranton, PA @ Toyota Pavilion
May 16 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Stage AE
May 18 – Grand Rapids, MI @ The Deltaplex
May 20 – Columbus, OH @ Rock On The Range
May 22 – La Crosse, WI @ La Crosse Center
May 24 – Sioux City, IA @ Tyson Center
May 25 – Wichita, KS @ Hartman Arena
May 26 – Pryor, OK @ Rocklahoma

More SLAYYYEERRRR Branding

Man, what a 4 day weekend, epic. Anyway, a few months back you probably remember Slayer Condoms along with countless other bands leaping on the bandwagon of merchandising wine, hole punches, and butt plugs.

But today, the oldest form of branding returns from English based jewelry designer The Great Frog in the form of a Slayer ring. A limited run of these puppies will be created, and it looks like its cast in silver, as most TGF pieces are. An official launch party will take place at the Great Frog store in NY Feb 24th, where I assume some of the Slayer guys will be on hand to accept some rings and eat some wine & cheese, metal indeed. So if you got an ungodly amount of cash to drop, then you may wanna get on the wait list. FUCKEN SLAYYYYEEERRRR!!!!!

So I don’t want the title to mislead, would I ever do that? I don’t think the recent Swedish “Grammi” gala is associated with the American Grammys. Granted I don’t know, as I am too lazy to do a google search, but yes, apparently the Grammis also have a Hard Rock/Metal Category, come on they’re Swedish, of course they do, and it turns out they have much better taste than the US equivalent, again no surprise. Take a look at the nominees:

* GRAVEYARD – “Hisingen Blues”
* HAMMERFALL – “Infected”
* IN FLAMES – “Sounds Of A Playground Fading”
* OPETH – “Heritage”
* THE HAUNTED – “Unseen”

Take a guess as to who may have won this category? I would’ve guessed Opeth, pretty sure they’re Swedish, and while I wasn’t impressed that much with Heritage I could see the Swedes love it. No? Well, in reality, Graveyard Hisingen Blues won it, how awesome is that? Those guys put out a great album, busted their ass touring, and now are recognized. Nicely done guys, while it won’t be a Grammi for long as the Grammys are suing for infringement, it’ll still look nice next to the beer cans on the mantle. Winning indeed, suck it Grammys.
